Scarlet Seduction

Scarlet Seduction began as an early filmmaking challenge: tell a complete story without a single line of dialogue. Created for Components of Visual Storytelling at Long Island University, the short uses color, lighting, performance, and editing to turn attraction into unease.

The film follows Vesper Noir, a vampire who lures a stranger, played by Malik Thomas, into her home. What begins as a chance encounter becomes a dinner invitation with a fatal outcome.

Cool city exteriors contrast with saturated red interiors. Glances, measured cuts, and candlelit details build tension until the final scene reveals Vesper’s intentions. Color and editing carry the narrative without dialogue.

Logline

When a history student boards a New York subway train that travels through time, he joins a makeshift family of displaced passengers to stop a corporation from erasing the city’s past and uncover what happened to his missing father.

Story

Millat “Mee-lo” Torres is pulled into a fractured New York, from 1982 Times Square to 1977 Harlem and beyond. Alongside drag performers, a mother separated from her children, a hacker, and a DJ reluctant to leave the past, he discovers that Caine Industries is rewriting history for profit. Their fight to get home becomes a fight for the communities the city keeps forgetting.

Tone & themes

An ensemble science fiction adventure with dark humor. The story explores found family, queer survival, grief, and gentrification through a struggle over who controls the city’s history.

Trauma
Therapy

A family dramedy

Written & created by
Malik Thomas

Logline

A New York college student tries to make sense of his grieving Midwestern family through the language of therapy, only to discover that understanding their trauma cannot spare him from confronting his own.

Story

Moving between New York City and the Midwest, the series follows Micah Reid and a family held together by love, habit, and things left unsaid. As loss unsettles familiar roles, buried childhood abuse, resentment, and questions of identity begin to surface. Micah’s instinct to analyze everyone offers a sense of control, even as it puts distance between him and the people he wants to reach.

Tone & structure

The series uses candid dialogue and family conflict to examine grief, with humor drawn from misunderstandings, avoidance, and everyday acts of care. Episodes take their names from concepts such as “Safety,” “Triggers,” and “Boundaries.” The first season, “Phase 1: Stabilization,” explores the distance between surviving as a family and beginning to heal.
